Edward W. Milisits II retired on June 23, 2009 from the Easton Area School District after 33 years of service. He served as the Director of Choral Activities, developed and taught many classes, including Voice Lab, Music History, Guitar Lab, Honors Music Theory I and II and AP Music Theory at Easton Area High School. He also served as the K-12 Coordinator of Music for the EASD.
Mr. Milisits graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Music Ed. From West Chester University in 1975. In 1982, he graduated summa cum Laude with a M.M. in M. Ed. Degree, also from West Chester. He subsequently did post-graduate work in conjunction with Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA.
He also founded and/or directed 5 choirs during his tenure there. He was the founder of the EAHS Camerata, Chamber Singers and Jazz Chorale. He also conducted the Concert Choir and Treble Choir.
Ed was also the founder of the EAHS Choral Boosters. This body is a very integral part of the department, as it funds many activities and provides much needed equipment and attire that the regular school district budget cannot supply. The Boosters are the main underwriter for the annual Choral Department adjudication trip, another of the activities begun by Mr. Milisits 32 years ago.
His choirs have sung at various venues over the years. These include the Canadian Parliament Building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the National Pageant of Peace in Washington, DC., Carnegie Hall under the direction of Mr. John Rutter, Jacob’s Field and the Roger’s Centre where the Camerata performed the anthems of both the US and Canada.
Mr. Milisits’ choirs have a long history of receiving superior ratings at various adjudication sites around the US and in Canada. They have won the Gold Medal in one of the International Festival in which they have competed and have won several “sweepstakes” awards.
Ed has and continues to serve as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator and consultant around the eastern part of the country. He is in demand in all of these areas and they are something he enjoys doing.
He currently resides in Bethlehem, PA with his wife, Stephanie and their son Edward III.
